Meet our Doctors

Susan Schreiber, MD

Susan Schreiber wanted to be a doctor from a very young age. After growing up in Los Angeles, she graduated from UCLA at the age of 19 and attended medical school at USC School of Medicine. Although initially planning a career in surgery, she fell in love with kids while in training. She then went on to become a board certified pediatrician after completing her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. In the 80's she launched her own private practice before joining forces with Dr. Michael Sachs in 1994, establishing their office in Beverly Hills. Dr. Schreiber believes in blending western medicine with a touch of holistic medicine to enhance her patient's overall wellness. Many of her patients come to her because she is willing to implement slower vaccine schedules. She has taught pediatric residents at both Children's Hospital and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Schreiber served six years on the medical executive committee at Cedars. She presently serves on the Board of Directors of the School for Early Childhood Education at USC.

Dr. Schreiber loves to travel and plans an exciting adventure every year. She has 2 grown children. David, who is a major in the Air Force space program and Allison, who works for a hospital pharmacy in Portland. Dr. Schreiber presently lives with her husband Gary and a wonderful rescue dog named Amelia.

Michael Sachs, MD

Michael Sachs has enjoyed being in private practice for the last 27 years and is delighted to be one of the founding partners of Premier Pediatrics Beverly Hills. He was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, graduating with honors. He returned to Los Angeles for his residency in Pediatrics at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center and opened his first pediatric private practice in Beverly Hills in 1989.

As a member of the voluntary attending staff at Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Sachs has enjoyed teaching pediatric residents and has won the "Golden Apple" outstanding outpatient teacher award three times. Reflecting his commitment to passenger safety for children, he has been on the advisory board of SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A. for several years. He has co-authored two articles in the journal Pediatric Basics, "Car Seat Safety - Buckling Up Isn't Always Enough" and "Gastroesophageal Reflux - Just Spitting Up, or Something More Serious".

Dr. Sachs lives in West Los Angeles with his wife, Melinda, and their three beautiful children. Daniel (7) is still at home, while older daughters Rebecca (23) has graduated from Columbia University in New York and Sydney (21) attends the University of Denver. When not in the office or spending time with his family, he enjoys all aspects of electronics and computers.

Lisa Hauselman, MD

Lisa Hauselman is a board certified pediatrician and founding partner of Premier Pediatrics Beverly Hills. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Hauselman wanted to explore the East Coast and earned her undergraduate degree in History and English at the University of Pennsylvania. She then moved to San Francisco after college where she volunteered in Pediatrics at UCSF Medical Center. It was that experience that put her on the path to a career caring for children.

Dr. Lisa moved to New York City to attend Columbia University's post baccalaureate program in pre-medical studies. Upon returning home, she attended medical school at UCLA School of Medicine, graduating with honors. Nothing made her father, Dr. Stephen Shapiro (former Chief of Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center), more proud than to walk his daughter down the aisle at her medical school graduation. She continued in her father's footsteps by completing her residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the same hospital her father had trained at many years before.

Dr. Lisa appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Show in "A Message for the Anti-Vaccine Movement" to help support the importance of childhood immunizations. She also served on the medical advisory board for The Honest Company’s Health and Wellness Division.

Dr. Lisa lives with her husband Nick and two beautiful children: Sophie and Moses who continue to make her a better pediatrician every day with their love and support.

Nicole Nourmand, MD

Nicole Nourmand, also known as "Dr. Nikki" to her patients, is passionate about your child's health. She chose to work in pediatrics because of its strong emphasis on preventive medicine. Dr. Nikki is a native Angeleno and graduated from Beverly Hills High School and UCLA. She is proud to practice in the community where she was raised.

After college, Dr. Nikki moved to Israel to do volunteer work through Project Otzma. While volunteering in daycare centers and schools in Israel, she was sure she needed to work with children for the rest of her life. She moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and completed her Premedical Studies at Harvard University's post-baccalaureate program. Since Boston was not quite cold enough, she moved to Chicago, and graduated from Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr. Nikki was thrilled to move back to LA, where she completed her Pediatric training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She has been in private practice for ten years, and is a founding partner of Premier Pediatrics Beverly Hills. She is fluent in Spanish, and can speak conversational Hebrew. She is married to Jason, a political science professor, and they have two children, Joshie (age 13) and Eva (age 10).

Karen Hovav

Karen Hovav, MD

Karen Hovav is a board-certified pediatrician who joined our practice in 2014.

Dr. Karen grew up in sunny Southern California but decided to explore snowstorm weather by earning her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from Brandeis University in Massachusetts. She was thrilled with the chance to study medicine at Tel Aviv University and enjoyed spending quality time with her Israeli relatives during those years. It was during her pediatric rotation at Schneider's Children's Hospital that she fell in love with the field of Pediatrics and knew she had found her calling.

She returned to Southern California for residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, where she completed residency and later worked as an attending pediatrician in their outpatient clinic. She has worked in private practice for over eight years, and truly loves serving as a partner with parents to keep their children healthy and happy.

She speaks Hebrew and Spanish fluently, and loves traveling and exploring different cultures. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, yoga and most of all spending time with her husband David and adorable twins Idan and Brielle.

Valerie Jespersen-Wheat

Valerie Jespersen-Wheat, IBCLC

Lactation Consultant

Valerie was born in Honolulu but spent most of her childhood growing up in Southern California. She earned her undergraduate degree in Developmental Psychology at UC Santa Barbara, then moved to the east coast to earn her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Boston University. She worked for a number of years as a pediatric occupational therapist, treating school-aged children with learning disorders.

After taking time off for the birth of her first daughter, she decided it was time for a career change. Her experiences as a first-time mom made her realize that breastfeeding a baby can be a challenge, and that women need expert support in reaching their goals. She enrolled in the UCLA Lactation Consultant training program and began her career as a board-certified lactation consultant.

After several years working as a community-based lactation consultant, Valerie moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to serve as the Program Coordinator for Lactation Services in the NICU, where she worked for 16 years. In the NICU, she helped very small, premature and sick infants and their moms learn to breastfeed. At Cedars, she also taught pediatric residents the essentials of lactation to prepare them in their roles as pediatricians to support breastfeeding families.

By joining Premier Pediatrics, Valerie is excited to return to her community roots, helping both NICU graduates and healthy, full term babies to be successful with breastfeeding. In her free time, Valerie enjoys cooking, gardening, exploring Los Angeles’ countless culinary offerings, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
